I received some amazing news this week – I was offered a position at local college!
I am beyond excited about this opportunity. My goal for this year was to get a job that within the higher education industry, just as a starting place. I wasn’t expecting to get into a technical position so quickly. I can say, I’ve never been more thrilled!
I’ve chosen to not share this on any social media sites and only share the information with close family members. I’m going to be honest – I am a tad scared of jinxing myself out of this opportunity.
I’ll post more about my new position as I get closer to my official start date… but
I just went ahead and added a new site feature! A gallery to show off all my projects. I’m still working on getting some images of the projects I’ve completed, but I’ll be adding more as I find them! I decided to use the NextGEN plug-in, but I might play around with some other options as I get more situated with my imagery.
Definitely found a new goal after adding the ones I’ve found….
Learn to take better photographs of my finished projects!
I’ve been working on one pattern for the past few days and honestly, I have no focus on it. The concept is really cool. I think people will like it, but I can’t seem to just get it done. Its going to take some time and that is not including stitching time.
I’ve been trying my best to work on it for about an hour a day, or more. Its always on my to-do list. I am thinking I might need to move to an additional pattern to dilute this project some with something less extensive.
I think I might make a pattern focused on Gundams! I have a a bunch of models and I think it would be neat to have some of my favorites commemorated in cross stitch form! Another idea is one I got from Reddit, a cross stitch of the first two houses Cody and I’ve lived at, lastly a mock-up of a design my dad did!
I’m preparing for an interview this coming week for at a local college, but otherwise I start a new job next week! What are some good things going on in your life?
I’ve started designing a new cross stitch pattern that is probably going to take me awhile. I’m using PCStitch to design the initial concept and chose the initial colors. Once I’m done on that front, I’ll begin actually stitching and making adjustments to the design (while recording the changes I make). I’ve noticed the colors displayed in PCStitch don’t always match the colors of the actual floss, which makes it a tad challenging and explains my time-consuming process. This pattern is going to involve Mario and Pokemon!
I’m hoping to start another pattern, as well. Something smaller and less time consuming to ensure I have content over the next few weeks ^.^ I’m still not 100% sure what I want to do, but I’m thinking something focusing on Overwatch or League of Legends.
This week was the start of a new graduate course for me – Focus is website construction and UI. First week has been fun and the people in my course seem incredibly interesting! A friend of mine, Sean, has been independently studying HTML and CSS so I might get to work through some things with him and we can learn together!
It’s the official launch of my little craft site!! I’m super excited about this. This is just the base for now, but it’s only going to get better as I add more features, add more products, and record more of my adventures! Thank you so much for viewing my site ^.^
I managed to finish the detailing and wash it all last night.
As promised, below are links to two free cross titch patterns. One with the muffin and one with the nugget. I made some alterations to make these little guys more generic. I hope you love them ^.^
TL;DR: Got distracted by too many projects, got laid off, got depressed and still haven’t finished a V-Day gift for my boyfriend. Muffin and Nugget Pattern will be up for free with some alterations upon completing it!
Hi, everyone!
So I feel so behind with Christmas gifts that it actually affected other gifts I was supposed to have time for. I decided when I first started dating Cody that I wanted to make him gifts for each major holiday. I’ve always felt that homemade gifts show how much time you’re willing to give to another person…
I started dating Cody in 2017, after Valentine’s day… thank goodness… (Not great at last minute projects… unless they’re for school).
Our first year together, I made him a foam Squirtle. This year I decided on a cross stitch, custom pattern of us. I wanted it to represent us in our everyday lives, while also being comical. So I went with our nicknames for each other a base. He calls my Muffin and I call him Nugget. Of course, focused on Valentine’s Day there was going to be hearts, so that way easy enough.
I sketched out my initial concept on some paper to get a better idea of what I was looking for (Picture won’t be provided since I am garbage at drawing). I then used PCStitch to get a better idea of what I wanted for size and colors. Initially, I picked the colors in PCStitch, but decided to use what I had on-hand instead. I went to my only local hobby shop, Hobby Lobby, and bought a hoop for the project. Came home and started working….
I was still behind on Christmas gifts so I chose to focus my efforts elsewhere and stopped working on the project entirely… My bad.
Once I finished the Christmas gifts, I got another project in my head and started working on that… and then… I got laid off from my day job. I’ll be honest I got depressed and it made it harder for me to do things I love. Sort of a weird punishment, but its what I did.
Anyway, this was the original concept!
Progress so far is below! I’ll be providing this pattern, with some alternate options upon completing this project! I hope you love it ^.^
